This week, Maureen and Cameron are in Yakima. Grammy (Patsy Riker) had a knee replacement on Tuesday...here's how our week started.....
Sunday, Cameron and Maureen traveled back to Yakima with Grampy and Grammy - 6 hours in the car. Cameron did amazing! He really enjoyed sitting next to Grammy. She sure knows how to keep him entertained! Monday was planning on being a day to get ready for the surgery - run errands...this and that. Melissa, Maureen's sister was coming over to their parents' house so they could run errands. Well....Melissa and her boys were driving too fast on a windy road and slid off the road, rolled their car 3 times and landed upside down in a ravine, 30 feet down and embankment. They climbed out the back window of their honda civic and climbed up the hill. They yelled for people to stop - finally a lady did and they called all of us...needless to say, we were all there immediately- as were the paramedics and police. Everyone is okay...the two boys, Isaac (3 1/2 yrs) and Ethan (1 year) were safe in their carseats.. without a scratch on them - well, Ethan got a small scratch on his finger...Melissa hit her head and is sore all over. They were all seen at the ER and released. The car is totaled....but everyone is alive! We are so thankful for God's mercy and protection! --- That was NOT the way we wanted to prepare ourselves for mom's surgery...but it did keep our minds off of the surgery!!
Mom's surgery went well. The whole process kept getting bumped...due to emergency surgeries. Mom's started 2 1/2 hours later than scheduled...oh well. It's all done and she's recovering well. We are taking shifts to go see her - the hospital here is very strict on who and how many people can visit - and Cameron is not allowed at all...how sad!
We fly home Friday afternoon...
Brian and the big boys are doing well...Brian is not liking being a single parent! There is a lot to do - get the boys to school...make lunches...clean up....naps....dinner....repeat!!! He'll sure appreciate me when I get home, right?!?!?! Cameron is enjoying playing with his cousins here in Yakima - we sure wish the other two boys could be here with us!!!
Life is so precious! We are thankful each day for the time we have been given with our loved ones! Please tell those around you that you love them!!!
