My mom has said from the start that the trampoline was going to be dangerous! We have had it for almost 3 years and have never had any problems. Saturday evening, that all changed. Brian, Colin, Curtis and Cameron were all on the trampoline. I was sitting on the ground. Brian went to jump off. He landed just fine. Colin's turn came next. His foot slipped through the springs and he fell forward onto the ground. He got the wind knocked out of him and complained that his right arm hurt. We iced it and gave him tylenol. I gave him a bunch of tests - squeeze my fingers, push on my hand....he could do it all, with some pain. Since it happened in the evening, we decided to wait it out...he went to bed just fine - but woke up at 12:55am saying his arm really hurt and he couldn't sleep. I immediately had flashbacks of when he was 6 months old and had broken his left leg! I knew something was wrong. The next morning, we all got up and got ready - Brian took the younger two to church and I took Colin to a Primary Health medical center. By now, his wrist was pretty swollen and he couldn't move it hardly at all. They x-rayed it and sure enough, it was broken. It is a kind of break called a Buckle Fracture - where the bone is not broken in two, it's pushed from end to end and makes a slight 'bubble' - they splinted his arm and referred us to a orthopedic surgeon. Since it was Sunday, we had to wait until today to get an appointment. They are super busy so the earliest we can be seen is Wednesday at 10am. We have been icing it and giving him tylenol. He is pretty upset about all the things he can't do now.....play the Wii, chores, ride his bike, brush his teeth (I told him we'll teach him how to brush with his LEFT hand! That was one thing he isn't getting out of!!!) - for those of you that don't know, he is left handed!! Anyways......we have been told that they almost always do waterproof casts for kids now, which is a very good thing since we have swimming lessons starting a week from today! We'll keep you posted on how the appointment goes on Wednesday!
